Horizons – Video

My 2011 composition Horizons was performed by Alondra Vega-Zaldivar with pianist Edgar Suski on June 14th, 2016 at the Canadian Music Centre as part of the concert: Glimpses: A Music Drama Through Art Song. Based on the poem by Anna Ling Kaye. The piece was originally performed at the Vancouver Art Song lab.

Glimpses. A Music Drama through Art Songs

I’m happy to announce that my 2011 piece from the Vancouver Art Song Lab, Horizons, will be performed in an upcoming concert in Toronto entitled Glimpses. A Music Drama through Art Songs.

The concert is being organized and performed by the talented soprano Alondra Vega-zaldivar as well as guest musicians. My piece is one of the many featured on this varied program happening on June 14th at 8pm at the CMC Chalmers House (20 St. Joseph St.).

Walden School – Creative Musician Retreat

I’m happy to announce I’ll be heading to New Hampshire in June for the Walden School’s Creative Musician Retreat. As part of the retreat I’ll be premiering a new work for String Quartet to be performed by the Mivos Quartet.

In addition to the premiere there is an intensive week of workshops, masterclasses, and sessions on music theory and composition pedagogy. The CMR features composer Michael Daugherty as composer in residence as well as Caroline Mallonée, Sam PlutaOsnat NetzerNicholas DeMaisonRenée Favand-See and D. J. Sparr.


About the Festival:

A week-long festival in New England, the Creative Musicians Retreat (CMR) is offered for composers, improvisers, performers, electronic musicians, choral musicians, and music teachers who want to spend a week immersed in music.

The 2016 Creative Musicians Retreat will be held June 18-26, 2016 on the campus of The Dublin School, in Dublin, New Hampshire.

TorQ Percussion Concert: Fingers

My work Fingers was performed by TorQ Percussion on Tuesday March 22nd in a co-presentation by the CMC and Musica Reflecta.

The piece Fingers is based entirely on the percussionists only using their fingers to perform all the gestures. All gestures are based on using mostly cymbals (or metal objects) to create pointilistic melodies and sparse textures
